While the food is always the most important part of any street food venture, we love it when a vendor comes along with a brand new concept. James – The Cake Doctor, is one of those street food traders. He converted his 1979 Ford Transit Ambulance from scratch and now travels the Midlands administering much needed care to the hungry, providing emergency services for caffeine addicts and alleviating the pain of those in dire need of cream.
Cake Doctor specialisms; whoopie pie and duffins, are especially worth catching and are said to cure all manner of ailments, so be sure to make an appointment next time the Doctor is on his rounds.
The Cake Doctor sources all fruit from his local green grocer and only uses seasonal produce. The constantly changing menu means that there is always a local speciality to taste, just ask for details!
All packaging is either recyclable or fully compostable. Stirrers and forks (becasue you can’t be asked to serve cake without a fork!) are wooden and will biodegrade in only a few months, leaving nothing but the pleasing memory of cake and coffee.
Cake is baked fresh that day, so you are getting a treat while it is as fresh as it possibly can be. The good Doctor is constantly working on new flavours and trying to find even better treats, so his snacks never have time to get stale!
It’s an ambulance selling cake. He calls himself the Doctor. If that wasn’t unique enough for you then he also serves absolutely delicious coffee and brews a pretty fantastic tea. Can he travel through space and time? We think probably yes.
